Susanna Wesley Circle Ministry
The Susanna Wesley Circle meets the 2nd Thursday, at 7:00 pm, September through May in members’ homes and/or the church. In June, we scheduled an outing for lunch and/or visiting a place of interest. In addition to our monthly business meeting, we also have a program and devotions. Our purpose is to develop a creative, supportive fellowship and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. We are part of the West Ohio Conference of United Methodist Women and Capitol Area South District of United Methodist Women.
The main purpose of the Susanna Wesley Circle is supporting missions. For the past several years, we have received the Five Star Giving award by the Columbus Area South District.
To achieve this award, we give money to five programs:
- Thank Offering: Each member is given a “thank offering” box in which they can give extra money collected from November, to November thanking God for all the blessings He provides. This money is given to the Columbus Area South District to use as needed for God’s work.
- Annual Pledge: In September, the treasurer conducts the annual Pledge service. Each member prayerfully considers the amount of her annual Pledge. Then our members also determine what our “Susanna Wesley Circle” annual pledge to the Columbus Area South District will be. This money is the foundation for mission work through United Methodist Women.
- Gift to Mission: The circle gives a gift to mission in honor of someone within our church in recognition of their mission work.
- Gift in Memory: Any member can give a gift in memory, in an appropriate memorial for a special person.
- Gift in Honor: Any member can give a gift in honor of a special occasion as an undesignated gift for mission work through the United Methodist Women.
Projects:
- Valentine Boxes – Each year, with the assistance of the congregation, we prepare goodie boxes for our college students and military personnel.
- Christmas Cheer – Each December, we deliver Poinsettias to church members 80 years or older and to shut-ins.
- Pickaway County Clothing Center – Our church is responsible to work several times a year.
- McCurdy School – A mission project we contribute to each year.
- Mother-Daughter Banquet – Held each year in May.
- Father-Son Banquet – Held each year in June.
- Funeral Dinners – We coordinate arrangements to provide funeral dinners for our church family.
- Mission Field – We contribute money to various members of our church taking mission trips.
